Lovely Landscapes
On Friday, we walked down to the back oval and did some sketching. We chose a nice and comfy spot on a hill and used led pencils to sketch what we could see. When we were happy with our sketches we walked back to class and added extra detail and coloured them in.
Read to Self
One of the first Daily Five activities introduced is Read to Self. Read to Self, teaches students to read independently and enables them to practise some of the skills and strategies worked on together as a class. 1M started by learning about the three ways to read a book; read the pictures, read the words or retell a story you have already read. After this we created a chart and identified why it is important to read and how it should look in our room. Here are some of the things we came up with.
Read to Self
Why?
To become better readers
Because it is fun
To learn new words
How it should look
Get started straight away
Everyone reading silently
Eyes on your own book
Stay in one spot
Build stamina
Here are some of the lovely pictures Mrs Downes took of us practising Read to Self. Thanks Mrs Downes!

Church Time
Today in Church Time, Mr Gray handed out some special awards called Honour Awards. These awards acknowledge students who are kind, considerate, work hard and try their best. Today this special award went to Rhea; for being respectful to her teachers and peers, being an excellent role model and for trying her best. Well done Rhea!

Counting Superstars
In Mathematics, we have been practising counting forwards and backwards and ordering numbers from smallest to biggest. We have also started looking at 2D shapes and sorting them according to their number of sides.
Bowling with Stage One
On Wednesday, Stage One went to the MPH for P.E. This week we practised rolling balls at a target. It was lots of fun and we even had a few strikes.
